Having used TS Doctor for nearly four years under Windows Vista 32, it
has all of a sudden become unusable in conjunction with Vista's Aero
interface. Launching TS Doctor with Vista's color scheme set to Windows
Aero does indeed open a transparent 'Cypheros TS Doctor' window frame in
which no TS Doctor commands are visible any more (positioning the mouse
cursor over certain TS Doctor window areas does, however, still display
explanations associated to those areas - cf. the attached screen shot
where the mouse cursor was positioned over the 'Audio details scan' area).

After changing Vista's color scheme to 'Windows Vista Basic' (right
mouse click on the Desktop, click on 'Window Color and Appearance' ,
click on 'Open classic appearance properties for more color options',
select 'Windows Vista Basic') the TS Doctor window and interface become
fully visible and the programme becomes usable again. However, even with
Vista's color scheme set to 'Windows Vista Basic' certain TS Doctor
pop-up prompts are not always fully displayed any more. I have noticed
for instance that sometimes only the 'Yes' and 'No' buttons are
displayed when the programme issues an existing file warning during
attempts to save a file (the 'File already exists! Do you want to
overwrite?' text is no longer displayed in the small pop-up window on
such occasions).

I have tested TS Doctor versions 1.2.134 and 1.2.166 and the display
problems outlined above affect both versions. TS Doctor version 1.2.134
was not yet affected by those issues on 1 May 2015. This makes me
suspect that a Microsoft security update for Windows Vista released
during May or June 2015 may have triggered the problems. No other
programme that I am running on my computer appears to be affected by
the issues outlined at present.

TL;DR
but:
The issue is described here http://forum.cypheros.de/index.php?topic=3044.0 (in German though)

long story, short:
the reason is M$ and a screwed up update (that they probably didn't test enough in vista)
KB3057839

You have to deactivate Window Animations in the TS Doctor
you can do this either by:

  • starting vista in safe mode or
  • setting the reg entry value DisableFormAnimation in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cypheros\TSDoctor\Settings" to 1

you probably need to restart windows after that

I seem to have identified an easy solution to the issues encountered:

In TS Doctor, go to Settings / Preferences. Deselect the 'Use skin' box. Or select the 'Use skin' box and at least one of the two 'Disable form animation' and 'Disable border decoration' boxes. (In other words: selecting the 'Use skin box' while not selecting one of the 'Disable form animation' or 'Disable border decoration' boxes seems to generate the issues reported.)

No Windows reboot is required.

well that was pretty much, what I wanted to tell you

(forgot to mention after the safe mode, that you then are able to open the TSD and disable one of those options you mentioned in the settings)

anyways nice that it is fixed for you now :)
